The Irish Whiskey Museum is a museum in the heart of Dublin where you can discover the history of Irish whiskey thanks to the informative tours, made even better by the entertaining guides who guide you through different rooms where you will go through history, and discover the ups and downs of whiskey in the past.

Is the Irish Whiskey Museum a distillery?
This is a very good question, the Irish Whiskey Museum, does have its own whiskey available in both, the bar, and the retail area however, it is not a distillery like Jameson or Teelings, so they do not produce their own whiskey.
This makes them unbiased to any particular brand, they can tell the story truthfully. They can also talk freely about the different ways of making whiskey and the peculiarities of each one without having favorites.
But then, where did the Irish Whiskey Museum whiskey come from?
Continuing with the good questions, shortly after the opening, The Irish Whiskey Museum wanted to make a hole in the whiskey world buying a unique and singular barrel which was only sold to this business from one of the greatest and oldest distilleries, The Bushmills distillery.
It’s a whiskey single malt matured for 14 years in Sherry cask, triple distilled in one of Ireland’s oldest distilleries for a traditional smooth, elegant taste and lingering finish.
Step by step of the Irish Whiskey Museum

1) The entrance
As you walk in the front alley, without a doubt the entrance will attract your attention, you will find a long corridor, with a giant mirror facing a wide range of barrels from different distilleries in Ireland.
It is a very popular spot for photos and videos.
Going forward you will find the stairs and the elevator; the Irish Whiskey Museum is fully accessible.
2) Retail and Bar
Once on the first floor you will find the retail section where you will find all type of gifts and presents to bring to your friends or family, also a wide variety of Whiskeys among which you can find great some of their favorites like Bushmill 21, Knappogue 21, Redbrest 15 and their own IWM Whiskey.
Have a look at one of their cabinets that showcases some rare whiskeys that the museum has gathered like Middleton, Gold Spot, Jameson’s…etc
Walking ahead you’ll find the bar, the place where you can wait for your tour to begin, or for those who do not have time for the tour can enjoy the Flights, they have a menu with trays with different where you may taste the differences between whiskeys by styles or Brands.
Also, they offer one of the best Irish coffees or a variety of cocktails to enjoy while taking in the views or waiting for your tour.
Not to mention that they also have beers and very fresh Guinness if you want to try it for the first time.
If you feel brave you can ask the waiter for the most expensive whiskeys in the bar, where he can offer you simple shots of whiskey for up to €100!
3) Tours
Begin the Tour! We don’t want to spoil anything, so we will talk more about the difference between the tours.
There are 2 types of tour:
1- Classic and Premium: In this tour you will travel through all the different rooms ending up in the tasting room, depending on if you choose classic tour, you will enjoy three whiskeys or if you picked the Premium you will get the three whiskeys an extra Premium Whiskey and a souvenir glass. The difference between the 2 options is €3. So, we recommend the Premium tour!
Classic and Premium tour lasts approximately 1 hour
The schedules for this tour are every day from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. every 30 minutes.
2- Blending experience tour: In this tour you will travel the same rooms as the Classic & Premium tour and you will learn the history of whiskey but instead of finished in the tasting room you will go to the Blending Room, where you will receive a tray of 4 whiskeys and after the guide describes each whiskey, you can try them and then mix the ones that you like the most, which is Blending. You can take your blend and put it in a bottle to take home.
The Blending tour lasts approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
The schedule for this Tour is every day at 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM

What to do when you finish the tour?
Now to continue visiting Dublin. For those who are enjoying the day with City Sightseeing you only have to go to stop 1 to continue discovering other parts of the city. Also, you are right beside the Book of Kells in Trinity College.
