You’re thinking about traveling to Dublin, but your friends won’t join? No worries! Dublin is a great city for solo travelers, whether you want to spend time by yourself or meet other travelers and locals. To make the most of your trip, here are the best tips for your solo travel in Dublin.

Join guided tours and connect with other people

There are many great museums and sights in Dublin that you can easily visit alone. Just walk around the city and, for example, explore the grounds of Trinity College, learn about Irish history at the National Museum at Kildare Street, or stop at the National Gallery to enjoy beautiful European art, from classic to modern.

If you want to join other travelers, however, guided group tours are the way to go. They are the perfect occasion to take part in a tour and learn new things and also give the opportunity to meet other people. Here, you can connect with travelers from all over the world and often the other participants are also solo traveling. Great tours you can join are walking tours through the city or, for example, Trinity College; guided tours, irish coffee or cocktail classes at the Irish Whiskey Museum; or the Irish History Tour at Glasnevin Cemetery.

Go to a pub – yes, you can do that alone, too!

A visit to an irish pub is a must when traveling to Ireland. If you’re traveling alone, you might hesitate to do so, but there is no need to: Just look for one of the seats near the bar and if you’re up for a talk, the bar staff is most of the time happy to chat and give tips on drinks you might want to try or sights that you should see. And while being at the pub you will probably be able to listen to some authentic Irish live music. An experience, you’ll not want to miss! For visitors who’d rather like to go with a group, there are also plenty of options for pub crawls in the city.

We get it; visiting a club and going dancing by yourself is not the easiest thing to do when you’re not super extroverted. But you don’t have to to have a fun night out in Dublin. There are plenty more things to do in the evenings:

For example, you can visit concerts from local as well as international artists. The latter often perform in bigger venues like 3Arena, Aviva Stadium or the Olympic Theatre and their tickets have to be bought some time in advance. If you’re going for smaller concerts however, have a look at Whelan’s, the Workmans Club, the Grand Social and the like. Here, you might even get tickets for the same evening.

Spontaneous visits can also work for some of the many comedy shows happening in Dublin throughout the week. Look up Craic Den, Laughter Lounge or In Stitches Comedy Club for a fun evening and a delicious pint at an event where it doesn’t matter if you’re alone or in a group. And of course Dublin is also a city of theatre – have a look at Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Abbey Theatre or Gaiety Theatre for great plays all year round.

Don’t wait and start your solo travel in Dublin!

As you can see, there are plenty of things to do when you’re solo traveling in Dublin – alone just as well as in groups. So, there’s no need to wait for someone to join in your travel plans. Another tip: To make it a bit easier and safer for you, try to find a hotel or airbnb which is quite central and makes your way home shorter, especially in the night. Apart from that, traveling in and around Dublin is fairly easy and not too expensive by bus, train and taxi. We wish you exciting and safe solo travels!
