National Gallery (Stop 28)
In Dublin’s National Gallery, which is free to visit, you find some of the most important and breathtakingly beautiful paintings of European artists from Picasso to Caravaggio. But not only that: The rooms of the gallery are gorgeous, too, and offer some of the best Instagram Spots in Dublin. Long halls, high ceilings, natural light, numerous chandeliers, and of course the art exhibits provide the perfect stage for your photos.
The Umbrellas (Stop 31)
Take a turn when you’re on Grafton Street and you’ll find colourful umbrellas hanging above Anne’s Lane street. Between a bar and a restaurant, partly decorated with graffitis, the umbrellas make the perfect backdrop for your Instagram photo.
Whiskey Museum Alley (Stop 1)
The Irish Whiskey Museum ist one of the top attractions in Ireland’s capital and fills you in on the history and production of Whiskey in Ireland – tasting included. However, it also offers a beautiful spot for your next Instagram post: With perfect lighting, Whiskey barrels in the background and a huge mirror, the museum’s entryway has everything you need for a perfect photo. But don’t forget to take a Whiskey tour, too! 😉
Phoenix Park and Deer (Stop 12)
The idyllic Phoenix Park sure has a lot of photo opportunities, from beautiful flower beds to monuments. However, one of the main attractions are for sure the deer roaming through the park. If you find them, you might even be able to take a unique photo with some of them, as they are quite used to people. Just always remember that they are wild animals and you should not make them feel threatened.
Guinness Bar photo on Guinness (Stop 7)
It’s crystal clear that the Guinness brewery is a must-see on your trip to Dublin. However, it’s not only interesting because you get to learn a lot about the production of Ireland’s treasured dark beer, and tasty, because you get to try it, but also perfect for taking an amazing photo for your Instagram profile. Either, because you take a photo on the roof terrasse overviewing the city, or because you order a Guiness with your photo transferred onto the foam of the beer.
Colourful doors
There’s probably nothing more typical for Dublin than the prominent colorful doors of its houses and they sure do make a nice backdrop for your Instagram posts. There are several stories about how they came into existence: From drunk husbands who couldn’t find the right house to go to after a night out, to a rebellion against England, when doors were supposed to be painted black in honor of the late Queen Victoria. Maybe it was also to show individuality and differ from the neighbours, because when building a house everything was regulated, apart from the colour of the doors. Which story is actually true can’t be said with certainty – maybe there’s a bit of truth to all of them.
Take a selfie with Oscar Wilde at Kennedy’s Pub (Stop 28)
Dublin is also famous for its writers, like James Joyce, William Butler Yeats, Bram Stoker, Samuel Beckett and more contemporary ones like John Banville or June Caldwell. One of the most prominent is Oscar Wilde, author of The Picture of Dorian Gray and the likes, who grew up and studied in Dublin. At Kennedy’s Pub on Westland Row, or rather at the grocery store which used to be at the front part of the house, Wilde earned his first shillings stacking the shelves on Saturday afternoons. Nowadays you can have a seat (and take a photo) on a bench in front of the pub – right next to a statue of the author.
Hop on one of our buses, get off at the sights you want to see, and secure yourself some great photos for your Instagram timeline!
